Born on December 28th,1947 in Venice, where he resides and carries on his activity as Marine Surveyor and Consultant, running the office established by his father in 1963.

After having completed his marine technical studies at the Nautical Institute Sebastiano Venier of Venice, having sailed as Deck Officer on merchant ships and obtained the degree in Maritime Sciences at the Nautical University of Naples, he started his professional career as Marine Surveyor and Consultant in his father's office, carrying out surveys on behalf of Marine Insurance Companies, Shipowners, Courts and P&I Clubs, as well as Financial Institutions investing in shipping.

The will to deepen his knowledge of Hull & Machinery insurance covers has allowed him to act for a number of years as Marine Average Adjuster participating also - as invited adjuster - at the Genoa Control Committee meetings.

Once having satisfied this need of experience regarding the adjusting of marine insurance claims, Dr Manilio Giorgetti, equipped with more complete professional knowledges, continued with utmost care his natural job of marine surveyor and consultant.

He is enrolled

• since 1974, at no. 168 of the List of Surveyors and Experts issued by the Chamber of Commerce of Venice;
  
• since 1974, in the Roll of Technical Consultants of Maritime Accidents held by the Criminal and Civil Court of Venice;
  
• in the List of Consultants of the ex national reinsurance body [UNIORIAS ANADI], having held the position of controller \ consultant;
  
• since 1994, in the Roll of Insurance Surveyors held by the Italian Ministry of Industry;
  
• since 1997, in the Expert Group of the RINa, working originally in the Group of Experts for Ships in Service and most recently in the Engine/Machinery Group of Experts whose consultancy is called upon by the Technical Committee of the Head Office of Registro Italiano Navale [RINa];
  
• since September 2004, in the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers [SNAME - USA] as full foreign member;
  
• since March 2010, in The Royal Institution of Naval Architects [RINA - GB] as member;
• since September 2010, in The Society of Consulting Marine Engineers & Ship Surveyors [SCMS - GB] as member;
• since February 2011, in The Federation of European Marine Associations of Surveyors and Consultants [FEMAS - GB] as member.
  
• since 2016 is member of the italian Associazione Ingegneri Periti di Avarie Marittime [AIPAM - I]
  
  

The technical, economical knowledge acquired during years of this activity, and the consequential, continuous contacts with the operators in the shipping world, have brought him recognition and contacts in the shipbuilding field and in second-hand sale and purchase market.

His in-depth knowledge and ever continuous technical studies in safety and security, in technical management of ships, allow him to maintain valid consultancy relationships with some of the most important shipowning groups.

His interest in the profession and the pleasure in spreading that acquired knowledge have resulted in the publication of technical texts - which have obtained favourable confirmations - and that were born of experience matured during his working career in\with the studio.
